There
are two main systems globally used for floor numbering:
(1)
In the United States, counts the bottom floor as number 1 or the first floor
and then the next floor up becomes the second floor and so on.
(2)
In Europe, especially in the United Kingdom,
the ground floor is the floor on the ground and regularly is assigned the
number zero. Consequently, the next floor up is assigned the number 1 and is
the first floor.
